Analytic Design Method for (Integrated-) Transformers of Resonant Converters using Extended Fundamental Frequency Analysis

The series-parallel resonant converter and its magnetic components are analysed by fundamental frequency techniques. The proposed method allows an easy design of the integrated transformer and the calculation of the losses of all components of the converter. Thus, an optimisation of the whole converter system – minimising either the volume and/or the losses of the converter (upper temperature is restricted) – could be done based on the derived set of equations. Moreover, the equations also include a ZCS condition for one leg of the converter, the control of the converter by the frequency and duty cycle and a load with offset voltage. The proposed analytic model is validated by simulation as well as by experimental results.
